British Telecom

Over the past decade, the telecommunications industry has been very exciting all over the world. Through many changes and exciting new technologies, the telecommunications industry has grown very rapidly all over the world. Many new national and international telecommunications companies have sprung up all over, making the industry very difficult to compete in. For telecommunication firms and companies to compete in this rapidly-growing industry they must always be willing to change, adapt, and evolve. Many of the old telephone companies to stay competitive in this industry have had to change the way they do business by evolving and becoming familiar with wireless and internet technologies. Wireless and internet technologies have transformed and almost have overrun the telecommunications industry. For older telephone companies such as the British firm, British Telecommunications, and the American firm, AT&T, they have had to adapt to the changing telecommunications environment. One such way national firms have grown in this industry has been to merge with international companies and go global. In the year 200, British Telecommunications and AT&T decided to form a joint venture to try and compete in this ever-changing, rapidly-evolving industry.
After many months of talks and debates, British Telecommunications and AT&T agreed to form one of the most ambitious global alliances ever attempted in the telecommunications industry. British Telecommunications was launched by the British government in 1981. Over the next years it has become one of Europe's leading providers of telecommunications services. The firm's principal activities include local, national, and international telecommunications services, and have since moved on to provide higher value broadband, internet products and services, as well as IT solutions. AT&T's roots date back to 1875 with Alexander Graham Bell's invention of the telephone.
