Classroom Management Seminar

            Only being in the classroom for a few weeks, I am already very aware of the fact that routines help the students transition and the school day run much more smoothly. I feel that establishing classroom routines is a very important past of classroom management. The following routines are few I plan to implement in my own classroom. .
             There are several tasks throughout each school day that will need routines that are established and constant. Class-running routines are very important. Each task can take up a lot of valuable instruction time if not thought through and planned for. When children enter the classroom each morning there will be a message on the board to them from me. A good morning greeting and something that I will ask them to do while the morning tasks are being completed. They may be asked to read silently, turn in homework from the preceding night, or write in personal reflection journals about their goals for the day. I might give a writing prompt for this or just allow them to free-write. They will sharpen their pencils for the day at this time also. Lunch count and attendance will be taken from three containers that will be placed on a table next to the door of the classroom. As each child comes in, they will find a popsicle stick with their name on it and place it in the correct container; regular lunch or brought lunch. This will help me take attendance and teach responsibility to the children. I will count the number in each container and check the sticks that have not been moved to see if that child is absent or if they forgot to place their stick in the container upon arrival. .
             There will be one hall pass for children to use throughout the day. They can use this to go to the restroom or office. There will also be two library passes. This hall pass procedure will help me to keep up with who is out of the room and where they are. There will never be more than three children out of the room at a time.
