             What Exactly is Internet Recruiting?.
             Internet recruiting is exactly what it sounds like. Recruiters and companies try to attract potential candidates via the World Wide Web and the Internet. "It all started with job boards- the first incarnation of Internet recruiting. "(Srinivasan, 2001, p. 4). A job board is nothing more the Internet. Jobs that needed to be filled were loaded or listed onto the board and the candidates were instructed to call or fax their resume to the individual or company. Later as technology emerged individuals were asked to post their resumes to these electronic billboards. "The early sites grew out of the media model and viewed the Sunday classifieds as key competitors.""(Srinivasan, 2001, p. 4). Many companies jumped into this medium feet first but without any thought or direction of where they wanted their recruiting pipeline to go. Many companies have frivolously whittled away large sums of money because of the lack of direction and minute specific goals. Companies soon found that they could drastically reduce their costs associated with hiring new individuals and speed up the transference of information to the general public.
             "These early job boards allowed recruiters to browse candidates that were identified using basic searches of the underlying electronic resumes. This early function was based on key word searches.""(Srinivasan, 2001, p. 4). Since the late 1990's Internet, recruiting has taken on a drastic change. New systems have come into play that allows a company and a recruiter to differentiate and assimilate a multitude of information via software systems. These systems use certain scoring and keyword searches that will rank and than recommend a candidate depending on the criteria that the company has chosen.
