The Airplane

The morning of September 11, 2001, I woke up late for work. It was five "til eight and work began at eight o"clock. I worked with my dad, so I thought, "It's just dad, he won't mind me getting to work a little late." Without rushing around, I proceeded to go about getting ready; however, I didn't know what was happening in the world at that time. The tragic events that were developing would change my life forever. .
I was the only one up until I started to make myself some breakfast. My two-year-old son woke up, and came into the living room. I decided to turn the television on for him so he could watch some of his favorite cartoons. The television happened to be on a news channel from the night before. It was showing a picture of a tall building with smoke rolling out of the sides of it. .
"Fire! Fire! Where's the fire truck?" my son shouted and asked in excitement.
I laughed and responded, "I don't know, but I"m sure if we keep watching we will see one." .
Meanwhile, my wife woke up, came into the living room, and asked, "What's all the noise about?" I explained to her about the building on television being on fire. My son exclaimed again, "Fire mommy! Fire!" So, we sat there and began to watch history unfold. .
As we sat watching the television intensely, the news channel began showing replays of an airplane running into one of the World Trade Center's buildings. My wife responded, "Oh my god. All those people." Then our son started to make airplane and explosion sounds as he circled the room as though he was an airplane. As we watched, a second airplane ran into the building! We could not believe what was happening! People started jumping out of the building. Others were running away in fear of their lives. .
"How could two planes run into the same building?" I asked my wife. My son was still running around as though he was an airplane. Now he was running into walls and making explosion sounds.
