Marriage And Family

I have seen the mother reprimand them quite a few times for spending too much time playing video games, watching television, or playing on the computer. After she scolded them for too much indoor activity, she would send them outside to play. I believe they eat dinner together almost every night as a family. I always see them calling their kids inside at around six to eat dinner. That is a good routine used to keep a family close with each other. I also see them go out occasionally on the weekends as a family, which is a great way to keep a family close together. Family outings help the family bond with each other in a different atmosphere than the home. I think that husband and wife have a healthy relationship with one another. I have never heard them yelling or arguing so if they ever do argue, they keep it very private rather than letting the whole neighborhood know they are in a fight. They seem like a very loving family who care very much about each other. I also believe that they show familism because it seems like the familys interests are more important than their individual interests. They show affection. I always see them giving each other hugs and kisses. I am sure they aren't always happy, but they definitely give me a good feeling about how good a marriage can be. Though I don't feel the traditional family is the best way to go anymore, they really make it work. .
             The second marriage that I observed was that of my friends" parents who have been married for over thirty years. They are not a traditional marriage. Both are of the working class. The husband is a man of tradition, kind of old fashioned. He likes things simple and does the same thing at the same time everyday. The wife is the exact opposite. She likes change and spontaneity. Sometimes I wonder how two so very different people would be happily married for so long. The way they got their marriage to work is that the husband does his thing and the wife does her thing.
