A Perspective On Kill Bill

To get to the other woman she has to fight what amounts to a veritable army of Japanese gang members with weapons she has to go through. Once she finishes with the small army she faces off with the woman that participated in the attack the day of her wedding. She wins the fight and proceeds to move on to her next target. This movie is just the first volume of two that depict her fight for justice.
             Contextualism.
             In Kill Bill Volume One Quentin Terentino worked very hard to get the audience to side with Uma Therman's character. Using the plot and other elements Terentino portrayed Bill and The Deadly Viper Assasination Squad as bad individuals that deserve what the heroine does to them. They are portrayed to be evil people that do not care for anyone. The writer and director also use various elements to display Uma Thurman's character as the victim. It becomes quite easy for the audience to side with the heroine as they show what was done to her and those close to her. While watching the film it becomes apparent that the director was trying to generate a response from the viewers by his excessive use of blood. It seemed that he was making a commentary on the state of violence in entertainment today. Although the movie was quite violent he made the violence seem absurd because of the sheer volume of blood used and also because of the shocking nature of some of the violent scenes. To get the viewer deeply involved in the film Terentino bases many of the shots in the film on older kung fu movies. Almost as if he is paying homage to them through out the film. This serves to garner an understanding from the audience as to how the film will be developed. .
             The director also did many things in the film for the artistic value. After the main fight scene that was done in black and white photography the scene changes to color. When she steps up to fight the member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad the fight takes place in a snowed in area.
