Sword In The Stone

The name of this book is The Sword in the Stone. This book was published by Bantum Doubleday Dell Books for Young Readers. The copy write date is October 1963.
The plot of this story is a boy named Art goes out into the woods in search for a hawk that he had lost. While in the woods comes upon a magician named Merlin who has a talking owl named Archimedes. Merlin decides to become Arts tutor. Merlin teaches him how to become a gentleman. Art brought Merlin back to Sir Ector's castle with him. The king at the time ends up dying and there is a contest to decide who the new king will be. Sir Ector's son Kay was to be in the contest and Art was made his squire. When they got to the contest Art realized that he had forgotten the sword and went back to get it, but he couldn't he then saw a sword sticking out of a stone in a church yard and decide to get it for Kay. Art then pulled out the sword signifying that he should be king. All of this happened in old England during the Medevil Times.
The setting of this is very important to the plot. If the setting were different then the plot would have to be different. If it were in another time then there might not be kings at that time and it's hard for someone to become king when being a king doesn't exist.
Art seems to be an optimistic person. He always seems to be in a good mood without a care in the world. Kay seems to be the kind of character that just craves attention and loves to prove that he is better than someone else. Sir Ector seems to be a person extremely proud of his son Kay but at times just ignores Art. Merlin just wants to help people and it upsets him when he can't. Archimedes is an owl that demands respect. Madam Mim is just a woman that wants to make trouble. .
The moment of climax in the story is just before Art pulls the sword out of the stone. The central events that help create the plot are when the hawk got lost in the woods. When Art found Merlin.
