The Bible

Explain in as much detail as you can why we may be confident that the words we read in the bible today are accurate and the same as the words originally written.
We can be confident that the bible is reliable and accurate for a number of reasons. A good indicator of whether a document has been altered or edited is the amount of time between when the original was written and when the oldest existing copy was written. The amount of time elapsed between the original book and the oldest existing copy for the new testament only 250 years compared to Caesars commentaries on the Gallic wars which was written in the 1st century BC and the oldest excising copy we have was written in 900 AD. We only have 10 different copies of these commentaries that still exist. There are still many copies of the four gospels, which are original copies that exist. The number is estimated to be many hundreds upon hundreds, compared to with numbers such as four and ten, we can see that the gospels are in a different league altogether of reliability. This evidence is clear and it shows that the bible is reliable. The number of original copies and the small time difference between when the original copy was written and the oldest excising copy is evidence that the gospels are an accurate recount of Jesus life. Especially when compared to other writings such as Caesar's commentaries, which are historically recognised around the world, the gospels are accurate and they have not been edited nor altered with. We can be confident that this is true.
Many people criticise or do not believe the bible because many of the stories told seem unrealistic or unbelievable. Stories such as Jesus healing people and performing other miracles, God appearing to people and angels appearing make non-believers sceptical of the bible. This is the only reason why they do not believe the bible, however the evidence that the bible is true is great.
