Communication Disorder

Teaching Strategy: For student with communication disorder the teacher needs to increase the amount of talk time the student is receiving. The class would be put into groups and have a subject that they had to describe how something works. Each person in the group would take their turn describing how a different part of the object works. The student would be communicating with others in-group. When they are finished the teacher would designate one spokesperson for each group. The teacher would pick the student with the learning disability to tell the class what their group came up with.
             2. Another teaching strategy for a student with a learning disability would be to give the student a word bank, if they are correcting a paragraph in English. This will help them to complete the task without becoming frustrated because they didn't get the proper form of the words.
             3. If the student is having trouble asking question correctly, such as "May I go get me a drink?" Don't grant the request until the student has asked the question correctly. They will think about it and eventually ask the correct way. This may take some practice, but the repetition will help them learn.
             4. Pick out a simple skit that uses the words you are working on that week, ask the students to pair up and recite the skit to each other, if the student is having difficulty with the words help them hear it correctly, and pronounce it correctly, have the students practice several times. The modeling and repetition hopefully will help to correct the student.
             5. Never stop and correct the students speech, just model the correct way to pronounce the words, If the student says See that pish, the teacher should just say yes I see that fish.
