Information Technology Paper

Information technology has been growing at such a rapid pace that it is difficult to keep up with all of the information available. Although computers have made most of our lives easier, some would say that there has been more work created in the process. Computers have been around for a long time, and yet will be here for a long time to come.

Data input can be a tedious job for anyone involved. It can take countless hours to keep records up-to-date and accurate. This is the main reason that computers have been implemented with most all data entry systems. Printed questionnaires, telephone surveys, bank checks, retail tags, and long documents all can be made simpler, and with more accuracy by implementing the right kind of computer and hardware to do the job. Both printed questionnaires and long documents could benefit by converting these forms into a type of document that could have circles filled in order to be scanned by a computer. This has been a widely used type of memory in the past, but has been becoming less useful as today’s information age has increased with the amount of information needed in each and every process. CD ROM’s (also called optical disks) have almost replaced floppy disks because of the large amount of information utilized today. They are utilized to store larger amounts of information (typically 700 MB) that can be used on a variety of platforms including computers, CD players, and DVD players. Computer tapes are typically used for backing up a large amount of information (up to 100 GB and growing). They can be used for backing up information as well as recovery.

Computer devices, documents, and various other items can be stored on computers and output to other devices for display, printing, and for review. Each one may have their own best form of output, but some may have several forms of output according to its purpose. A hand-held computer can have va
