The Sun is a daily paper available throughout England. It is read by the common man and could be compared to the New York Post. They both use sensationalism as the root of the majority of their stories. The format is quite similar, as well. The Sun and the Post both usually feature two main stories of the front page. The papers both covered stories of highs and lows of their stock market (US Stock market and UK Stock market), celebrity stories movies, comics, crosswords want ads, and a universal story of newspapers around the world — The War on Terror. It is just as important to the rest o~ the world as it is to us in the United States.
I believe that although some of the stories are similar, the main thing that differentiates the two newspapers is the sexual exploitation of the Sun. The Sun includes features such as: Page 3 which contains a nude shot of a different girl everyday, a
nd advertisement much more sexually orientated than we have. This is not acceptable by our standards of a daily newspaper yet sex is popular among our tabloids, it is a part of the European culture. Sex is not as frowned upon in Europe, it is accepted as normal by most Europeans.
The article broke down the 15 page report of Saddam Hussein — and stating what was believed to be true and false in the report. It spoke of the alliance of Britain and America against Hussein. Below the article there is another by Trevor Kavanagh (political editor) explaining the pros and cons of how a war would effect the UK, as well as, the benefits of why we should go to war now verses why we should wait.
