According to St. Augustine, there have been many people and events that have helped in the establishment of philosophy and natural theology. He mentions many great thinkers before him that have contributed, such as Thales of Miletus along with his disciples Anaximander and Anaximenes who focused on astronomical calculations. These three philosophers were part of the Ionian School of philosophy, which is one of two schools the other being the Italian School. But the most renowned thinker in philosophy according to St. Augistine was Plato.
