The movie Princess Monoke consisted of a number of important characters. Two of the main characters were in fact Princess Monoke and Ashitaka. Princess Monoke was the daughter of the Wolf god. She had represented the humans that really care for the environment. The Wolf god, Maro, was one of the protectors of the forest. She had helped look after it. Ashitaka was a prince of another village who was attacked by a demon god. He was in fact a character that represented a person who later realizes what is being done to the environment. He, in a way, is portrayed as the peacemaker. He can see that humans do what they do to survive, but he also sees that other things can be done without putting the environment in danger. The Lorax was an American film that concerned the environment and what goes on in our world. The Onceler was an entrepreneur and in a way, symbolized the love of money in today’s society. He contributed to the destruction of the environment. Once it was too late, he had realized what he done and the real destruction of the environment. The Lorax was a character that “spoke for the trees”. He would be portrayed as the environmentalists in today’s society; the protector of the environment. The Lorax saw that “progress processes too fast” which meant that our society is growing too quickly for the earth. It was something that the Onceler had soon came to realize after the damage was done. The little boy was a symbol of future generations to come that may one day help conserve the environment. Which was why the Onceler had given him the seed at the end.
