Essay: Contribution to the Community
The activities that I have participated in for the last four years, have gone to better the community. Aside from Key Club activities, which are built around good citizenship practices, I have also been involved in many other activities such as National Honor Society and Positive Peer Influence, which are also centered on helping others and promoting positive role models throughout the community.
My job for the past year has also benefited others in the community as well as myself. I work as the Assistant Nursery Director at Living Lord Lutheran Church. For the past six months, I have been working to set up a new children's ministry for 3-5 year olds. In January of 2003, all my hard work finally paid off. We now have a new children's ministry.
The number of children attending the nursery is steadily increasing. The children are enjoying the new format and look forward to learning about Christ each week. It means so much to me to know that I have made a difference. I love the fact that the children are interested and want to come to church each Sunday, and it's a wonderful feeling to know that I have something to do with that! I will continue my work throughout the community because now I know that even the smallest things I do make a big difference. I have learned to never underestimate what I am capable of. As long as I really want something, I know I can succeed and make a difference with my hard work and my faith in God! Nothing is ever impossible and change can start with just one person.
