Mysterious Puck - A Midsummer Night's DreamThe protagonist is the main character.Society rarely poses the question of who exactly the protagonist is. A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of the stories where there are a lot of characters and is hard to recognize who the main character is. Investigation has shown that Puck, Oberon's jester, is considered as the protagonist, this is because the story depicts his every moves in most of the scene and he causes most of the problems in the play. Starting off, Puck is one character among many, but the plot often focuses on him. Throughout the play, he is considered the main character since he completes Oberon's errands and can travel between both fairy and human world. The point of view told from the play follows his every movement not because they are forced into Puck's lines, it generates a question, how he performs Oberon's errands. In the story, Puck was greeted by a fairy servant of Titania "Unless I'm mistaken, you're that mischievous and naughty spirit named Robin Goodfellow" (2.1.18-20). The quote is important since it tells the character traits of Puck, There |

Documentary Film - Harvest Of FearAfter watching the movie "Harvest OF Fear,"" I have learned a great deal about Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). There are many pros and cons to the use of GMOs. I was surprised to learn about the pros and especially about how the GMO plants can help starving people in the developing countries become better farmers and help them survive and provide for their families. Another pro is environmental protection. Also GMO crops have been developed so that they can resist and repel insects. This can reduce the amount of pesticide chemicals used on the plants, and so reducing exposure to pesticides. It seems that GMO crops and animals require fewer chemicals, less time and tools. This may help reduce environmental pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and soil erosion. Another pro is that GMO foods can offer more nutrition. Some GMO foods have been engineered to be more nutritious in mineral or vitamin content (such as vitamin A enriched rice). This can also help fight malnutrition in the developing countries. Although there are some great benefits to GMO plants and animals, there are also some significant risks. One of which is the risk of allergi |

Planet In Danger - Environmental PollutionEnvironmental pollution is one of the greatest problems we face, causing serious and permanent damage to our planet. Numerous individuals seem to be more and more concerned about protecting our environment. Regardless of this, not many of us are actually making an effort to reduce the harmful chemicals destroying our world today. Maybe its because a majority of people believe it is the governments fault for problems such as global warming and oil spills, and that only the government, environmentalists, or big industries can fix this. This is something that people may not want to believe, but we are the main reason for these environmental issues today. A single person cannot be held accountable for the pollution of our planet; however, the little choices that person chooses to do everyday can be the major cause. Michael Pollan, American author, journalist, activist, and professor of journalism at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, explains in his essay "Why Bother " how a |

Coaching - Revised Leadership Sports ScaleIntroduction The purpose of the study was to determine possible differences in leadership behaviors using the Revised Leadership for Sport Scale (RLSS), between male and female coaches and among different coaching levels. The researchers submitted two hypotheses. The first hypothesis was that male and female coaches would respond differently to the RLSS in overall leadership behaviors. The second hypothesis was that differences on the RLSS would occur among coaching levels: junior high, high school, and college. The sample was nonrandom, including 162 coaches that were chosen on a volunteer basis. Within the sample, 118 (0.73) of the coaches were male, while 44 (0.27) were female. With regard to coaching level, 25 (0.15) were junior high coaches, 99 (0.61) high school, and 38 (0.24) at the college level. While this is a good sample size, the problem lies with the distribution of the sample. The sample number for junior high coaches, in particular, is rather low. A lar |

The Sport of Drag RacingDrag racing is a unique form of racing which hooks it's racers to it like a drug addict is addicted to drugs. During the 1940s, in Southern California, drag racing had started to become a very popular thing to do. This was seen to be an increasing hobby post World War II. People did not come on streets to race for money or any other motive of such sort, rather to show off their mechanical skills and have a nice time. The races started off with between two cars over the same distance. The drivers used to spend hours and days and weeks working in their garages building cars to race. These races had no time limit, no experience limit and no cash prizes. Even the winner was decided by whoever touches the bump in the road wins, proving that these races took place only for fun and passion of the drivers. These races, held in dry lake beds in Southern California, gathered a lot of people. People would show up with their girlfriends and families and enjoy the view of the race taking place. The drivers were so hooked only this activity and were so passionate about it that their need for speed w |

The Mental Aspect of BasbeallAbstract Many people do not see baseball as a mental sport, but baseball is considered to be ninety percent mental and ten percent physical. In order to be successful, one must train his mental approach before, during and after the game. This much training of the mind is broken down into three main points of the research: the automatic brain, self-confidence and mental toughness. The sources of this research were extremely relevant to baseball psychology as I incorporated two baseball psychiatrists, and three different professional annalists of the game who share their opinions and personal experiences about the game. Methods of obtaining the research were mainly done by involving myself into the game by experiencing the game on my own, understanding what many ball players go through at first hand. This procedure helped me relate to other baseball critics about the psychological side of the game and allowed me to quickly write about my results and reiterate to the reader what others me |

The Long Reaches of the Great DepressionThe Great Depression began in 1929, when the stock market in the United States dropped rapidly. Thousands of investors lost all of their money and were forced to live on the streets. The following period of 10 years ranked as the worst period of high unemployment and low business activity in modern times. Banks, stores, and factories were closed and left millions of Americans jobless, homeless, and without food. Many people came to depend on the government or charity in order to survive. A prime example that led to this tragedy is the Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates in 1928 and 1929. This action slowed economic activity in the United States. Because the international gold standard linked interest rates and financial policies among participating nations, these actions triggered recessions in nations around the globe. The government repeated this mistake when responding to the international financial crisis in the fall of 1931. An example is the Federal Reserve's failu |

Running with No Place to GoI had to run and find my parents. The CPS worker had thought I went outside in the backyard, oblivious to what was actually happening. I knew exactly what they were there to do and I wasn't going to let it happen. So I ran as fast as I could until I found my parents. There was a trail by the apartment complex we lived next to and thats exactly where my parents were. Fleeing down the trail until they could catch a bus to who knows where. I reached them panting, sweating, and with a face stained with tears. They didn't tell me anything just grabbed me and kept going. We reached the end of the trail where it intersected a busy road. I stayed with my mom at a park across the street while my dad went and stole a car. I was so confused and knew what they were doing was wrong but I had such a sense of loyalty towards my parents that I couldn't leave. When we all reunited we drove to a motel where we resided for about two weeks. I should have been in school. I should have been outside playing |

Speak by Laurie Halse AndersonIt is great to have friends, even if it is only a few. Friends are the people that help each other out of tough situations. Evolution - Question of the CenturySince the beginning of time, Humans have tried to answer the question: Where did we come from? Throughout the years, scientists have dedicated their lives to answering this age old question. Many scientists have turned to the theory of evolution as their answer. Evolution is simply defined as change over time. Through mutations, migration, natural selection, and genetic drift today's organisms show an amazing amount of similarities and differences. All of these scientists rely on other forms of science to prove this theory of evolution for example, comparative morphology, fossil records, and the biochemistry of organisms. It all started with one man, Aristotle, who during his life, immensely studied nature and the outdoors. He concluded to explain that each organism is distinct from the rest and is a continuum of organization. From this theory the Great Chain of Being was developed. The Great Chain of Being is a concept that links together all organisms. Each organism is a separate lin |

Lab - Water Rockets and Newton's Third LawAbstract A straightforward rocket can be made utilizing a plastic container loaded with a volume of water and pressurized air. At the point when opened, the gaseous tension pushes the water out of the jug. This causes an increment in the container force with the goal that it can be impelled to genuinely long separations or statutes. Water rockets are generally utilized as an instructive movement, and a few numerical models have been proposed to research and anticipate their physical science. Then again, the genuine comparisons that depict the physical science of the rockets are complicated to the point that certain presumptions are typically made to acquire models that are simpler to utilize. These models give generally great expectations however come up short in depicting the complex physical science of the stream. Biography of Alexis de TocquevilleAlexis de Tocqueville was a french aristocrat who belonged to the French Chamber of Deputies. Although part of the upper class of french society, Tocqueville was liberal in his ideas and agreed with many of the ideas set forth by Locke, Montesquieu and Rousseau. His two most prominent fears were the fear of tyranny and the uniformness of public opinion which would eventually come to shape in the form of this book Democracy in America, although the major fact which would shape his book would be his first visit to the United States in 1831. During the era of the early 1800's, democracy in the global community was uncommon. When Tocqueville first came to America in 1831, the first american ideal that would stand out to him was the equality of social conditions in american society. Although not perfect, social conditions in American were much more equalized than that of France or England. This was also supported by Tocqueville' |

A Lovable Criminal - Walter WhiteAs the AMC series, Breaking Bad, commenced, Walter White served as a relatable character, a high school teacher who felt passionate about engaging his students in chemistry and acting as an involved family man. The loving relationship he had with his wife, teenage son with learning challenges, and his high school students, constructed an endearing character that demanded sympathy for his illness. My devotion to Walter grew stronger along with his cancer diagnosis, however, I began to question his character's integrity momentarily during his DEA ride-along with Hank; Walt's curiosity involving the meth industry peaked as Hank discussed the financial gains and the specifics of the crime. As he saw a former student, Jesse Pinkman, flee the scene. As the Walt's illness grew dire, he devised a plan to blackmail Pinkman, already involved in the crystal meth business, to make money for his family after his passing. The Life of Martin Luther King Jr.Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, born on the morning of January 15, 1929, was one of the most inspiring and influential people. Throughout his lifetime he led other African Americans, through nonviolent protests and marches, to fight for the integration of the American society and for the equal treatment of the blacks. Starting out as a pastor in Montgomery, AL, he embarked on his journey, preaching about the significance of love and acceptance and equality. A man of powerful words, Dr. King grew in the ranks among the minority favorites through boycotting and public speaking. Although these acts were predominantly non-violent, the police force didn't approve and arrested King and his followers on numerous occasions. It is documented that Dr. King was arrested around twenty times and assaulted at least four times. Even though he was incarcerated, the "Letter from Birmingham Jail", written in August of 1963, provided a foundation for a harmonious society, where the woes of penury and distress are fictitious. The main point that can been seen across the letters was to determine whether injustices are alive. If an injustice was identified, Dr. |

Victorian Literature - Gender and Social LimitationsImagine wanting to go to school. Getting an education and a job was a dream or having a family was the best thing possible; imagine knowing that one of these things is not attainable because of gender. What sex someone is cannot be controlled or decided before birth, yet in the Victorian time period, a person's life was altered based on their reproductive organs. Not only were unrealistic goals forced on people due to their gender but also because of the social class they were born into. These uncontrollable factors were in the Victorian time period inhibited people from reaching their full potential. The books Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and David Copperfield by Charles Dickens were written in the Victorian era where gender and social limitations were forced upon the protagonists by society; both books use very simple characters to define and defy these limitations set before them, which ultimately created classics. To identify how gender impacted Eyre and Copperfield, gender roles |

Business Overview - The Fashion IndustryIntroduction For hundreds of years people have put some message in the type of clothing they wore. Long ago people started wanting to stand out from the "crowd " and be different from other people by means of changing their clothing. Some examples of these "standing out " became very popular and were followed by more people. This was the moment when fashion appeared. Nowadays, fashion is sometimes defined as a "constantly changing trend, favored for frivolous rather than practical, logical, or intellectual reasons ". Nevertheless, it is necessary to say that at the present moment fashion has a deeper influence on the life of people and possess more than just frivolous reasons for its existance. It is no longer just an "external shield " and a frivolous attitude towards it may cause loosing a very important physical, psychological and social aspect of a person's life. Resistance - A Common Literary LinkFor the purpose of this paper, I chose to focus on the writings of Anne Bradstreet, Benjamin Franklin, and Walt Whitman. Though these individual writers have their own styles and have overcome different tribulations, there exists a common link. Each writer effectively used their talents to air their resistance to the common beliefs of the world that surrounded them. For a few it is rather subtle, and for others it is plain as day. There was a lot of cultural bias towards women in Anne Bradstreet's time. The general idea was that women were meant to stay home and care for the needs of their children and husband. They had no place in the political sphere, and they need only be educated enough to read the Bible. Women were less scholarly then men so they had no business writing. These beliefs surrounded her writing and many assumed that Anne had stolen the ideas she wrote about from men. In "The Prologue " she made sure to show her resistance to such sexists' beliefs. Passage from The Rainbow by D.H. LawrenceA passage from D.H Lawrence's, "The Rainbow," captures the true essence of a woman and manifests her desires amid living with satisfied men. Women are constantly looking for ways to achieve maximum liberation, although such is not always acquired through the easiest means. Ultimately, women are straying away from the conformity of society and their traditional roles to achieve things that have more modern value, such as knowledge, power and freedom. Throughout this passage, Lawrence utilizes comparison between the point of view of men and women, rhetorical question, and repetition to exemplify the woman's desire to acquire a more profound understanding of life, thus attaining greater freedom. Lawrences use of comparison aids in the development of the women's motives and her desires in life. The passage begins with a man's perspective on rural life, followed by a woman's, which differs in a countless number of ways. Men claim that it [is] enough(line 1) and they have lived full and surcharged (line 11). Mans complacent attitude proves that he is perfectl |

Mothers in Everyday Use and Two KindsIn the stories "Everyday Use " and "Two Kinds,"" the parents heavily try to influence their children's future in order for them to be successful. Each parent tries in their own way to mold their child into the person they envision them becoming in the future. However, the children did not necessarily do what their parents wanted, even though they did gain some of the attributes intended from their parent's ideals. While it's impossible to always get exactly what they want, parents shape the character of their children as they grow into adults. The daughter in Amy Tan's "Two Kinds " began her life completely sold on her mother's ideas about of success and being a "prodigy"." "In all of my imaginings, I was filled with a sense that I would soon become perfect. My mother and father would adore me. I would be beyond reproach. I would never feel the need to sulk for anything" (Tan 336). These high expectations are a direct result from her mother's insistence on becoming academically great. |

In-School DiscriminationWhen people think about discrimination, they usually associate it with race or gender. But discrimination can take other forms. For example, a person can gain an unfair advantage at a job interview by being attractive, by knowing someone who works at the company, or by being able to talk about something (like sports) that has nothing to do with the job. Certainly, the people who do not get the job would claim that they were discriminated against, and to some extent they would be right. As a high school athlete, I experienced both sides of discrimination. When I was a sophomore, I benefited from discrimination. When I was a junior, however, I was penalized by it, treated as if there were no place for me in a classroom. As a result, I learned that discrimination, whether it helps you or hurts you, is wrong. At my high school, football was everything, and the entire town supported the local team. In the summer, merchants would run special football promotions. Adults would wear shirts with |

The Positive Side of HomeschoolingThere are two modern ways to gain an education, homeschool and public school. Out of those two, public school is the most popular choice. It has numerous possibilities that are fundamental to most adolescents like being social with classmates, after school activities, and opportunities to participate in school clubs. Of these two, homeschooling is the best alternative for obtaining an education. It may not be as popular as the public school system, but it has many more pros than cons. Homeschooling not only provides a more manageable schedule but a safer environment for children to be taught in. It also has the same advantages that students in public school have: social interaction with other children and extracurricular activities such as, church groups. Although homeschooling can provide a good quality education to students, there are numerous pros and cons to home schooling. These can either hinder or improve a student's way of developing and learning. To begin with, homeschooled s |

Maintaining the Camp at AuschwitzGeorge Santayana once declared, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." This quote provides some basic insight into why we should make an effort to remember history. Repeatedly throughout history, there have been periods of unwarranted discrimination, severe catastrophes and immoral acts of prejudice - remembering these periods helps us ascertain a more powerful understanding about our history which allows us to apply the lessons learnt to both the present and the future. If we are ignorant of the historical (and contemporary) experiences of a cultures, then we simply cannot attempt to understand why people, communities or nations behave the way they do or make the decisions they make. Importantly, not forgetting history also enables us to honour and carry on the legacies of those who lost their lives unnecessarily through brutal wars, genocide, or assassinations. Because we take time to remember the past, when a person dies, we do not let their personal storie |
