Towering trees surround me as I walk through the woods. I can smell the refreshing scent of the outdoors. The fragrance of fall is in the air. I can feel the gentle nip of the whispering wind upon my cheek. Forest sounds sing a comforting lullaby when I walk on the bed of leaves beneath me. I can hear the trickle of water as I draw near the stream. I can feel the sunshine kiss my face as it seeps through the fingers of the braches above. Occasionally, I"ll hear the quick movement of scampering animals in the brush. In a quick flash they have disappeared into the beautiful camouflage of their w...
"In the higher world form of good appears last of all, and is seen only with effort." -Plato I think that this summarizes a part of life that at least I couldn't summarize in only one sentence. What Plato is describing is how if you work hard, put in lots of effort, you will see results. Goodness only comes when a person wants to see it, and doesn't take advantage of it. When a person works really hard toward something in particular, and is dedicated to it, they will get what they were working for. Plato realizes that this method of getting what you want is possible, depending on the size of t...
Disco Crowd I would have belonged to the "disco crowd", because the rhythm is energizing and simply ear friendly. The environment in which disco is played is unreal with its disco balls and lights like an outer space feeling. Disco has a magical way to make you feel good about yourself. It can make you feel sexy, when wearing those totally sparkly and flashy colors with ridiculous high boots that adds a little color to life; the kind of clothes and free attitude that I don't wear in my everyday life. Disco is easy to listen to. It is not a music that makes you reflect on life's struggles or th...
The Pine Barrens John Mcphee's "The Pine Barrens" is a unique descriptive novel, the novel deals with nature and all it's beauty. The story is easy to follow and easy to understand because it is being told through the eyes of a non-partial naturist. The novel was intriguing because it was so relatable to Philadelphia, the fact that the actually Pine Barrens are only about fifty miles away meant that whatever Mcphee experienced throughout the book was not far fetched form what I"d experience. The proximity on which Mcphee relates the Barrens to New York City meant that I've been past that value...
