Why I got an A

            I got my "A" because of hard work and determination. It all became much simpler when I decided to just get it done and by that I mean that I went to class, read the required readings and wrote the papers to my best ability. This was not the general format in which I set for other classes. Although I have done quite well in other classes, an "A" was not always the outcome. It was usually a B, B-, or B+. Occasionally I received A's. It was this class that changed the way I went about getting an "A". Most classes I tried to stay in tune with the required readings and their due dates but it became very difficult to achieve this throughout the semester. This is the first time I read everything on time, therefore making it much easier to understand what was being conveyed in the classroom.
             The most important aspect of my great performance in the class was that it truly was the first time that I hadn't been put to sleep by the natural boredom of business classes. This was the first time that since I took all of my CAS classes that my mind was truly stimulated by the content of the material. The world of business communication is really an important core concept for all businesses. It really isn't possible for a company to stand on top without having great internal and external communications. .
             I read a book called "Small is Beautiful", it changed the way I thought of business in a very profound way. I do believe this class was a reflection of this book and my experience. Business is not something that in my view can continuously get bigger and better, as most economic books would suggest. Communication is the driving force behind this theory. It goes without saying that huge businesses have communication struggles. If a company can make substantial profits without always expanding I believe they have done their job in staying "small but beautiful". Communication within a large company becomes identical to the exercise we did in the first class, basically a lack thereof.
