Basic Training

The bus doors opened and we sprinted off of the bus like a herd of cattle. Only to be met by a group off screaming mad men. They were yelling things like "run faster", "pick up the pace", and "you move like pond water". I thought that I had just stepped into hell, but no it was basic training. I had joined the army and this was my first day of setting foot on the hot and humid grounds. I thought to myself, "What in the world have you gotten yourself into?" .
I had men and women, of all sizes, screaming at me and telling me how worthless I was; but not to fear, because if it were up to them I would become a soldier in eight weeks. As the last new recruit got off the bus they ordered us to get into what they called, a formation in ten seconds or we would have to push. Formation what was that, and push what are we going to push? None of us knew what the hell they were talking about; but to our dismay, we soon found out what they meant by both. .
First, we found out what they meant by "push". When they shouted out "Down!" we returned with "One Drill Sergeant!" and did a push up. .
             "Down!" .
             "Two Drill Sergeant!" .
             "Down!".
             "Three Drill Sergeant!".
As we constantly did the push-ups, one of the Drill Sergeants "kindly" explained to us what a formation was. We continued with our punishment until no one else was able to do another push-up, due to muscle failure. .
Then, came the command attention. For a second time, none of use knew what we were supposed to do. So we found ourselves in the push up position waiting for our Drill Sergeants command of "Down!" This time, as we were all "pushing", a different Drill Sergeant showed us what the position of attention was supposed to look like. .
The command came again in a thunderous voice, "Attention!" All of us, but two, followed the command without hesitation. Those that did not follow the command only led us to doing more push-ups. Finally, after about four tries of getting everyone to attention and pushing, we were victorious over the drill sergeants, or so it seemed at that moment.
