The Miracle of Life

The greatest miracle in life is life itself. Throughout the history of the world reproduction of life has been the driving force of evolution. Through time and evolution, the birthing process has become easier than ever. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said. "Man is a piece of the universe made alive." Being an Obstetrician/Gynecologist brings an amazing sense of self-worth because you are helping to bring a new part of the universe alive, everyday. The excitement a mother feels while going through her pregnancy, and the joy that comes with bringing a new life into a family, is often shared with the Obstetrician, the benefits and pay are only an added bonus. .
The joy that radiates from a mother-to-be is reason in itself to want to help her every step of the way. Many times, though not always, mothers and families are very excited for a new baby to be born, and this excitement is openly shared with the Obstetrician. An Obstetrician/Gynecologist sees most of their patients only one to two times a year; however, when a woman is pregnant, the doctor-patient relationship seems to be much closer. Because they get to see them so often, they get to watch them grow in size and in love for their unborn child. Watching the bond grow between a mother and child is an amazing thing. They have never met but they know each other so well. Obstetricians play a great part in this as they tell a mother what certain things mean. Although bad things do happen, the Obstetrician is there to help the mother through her labor, and deliver the baby.
"Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother." Helping a woman through the birthing process and placing a new baby in her arms is one of the most gratifying and fulfilling jobs a person can have. All deliveries are different with no one more important than another. A healthy baby is just as special and just as loved as the premature baby that should have never pulled through.
