US Army Soldier - Lieutenant Parnell

He consistently knew what his mission was and did everything in his power to make it a successful mission. He never found ways to get out of fights, like 2nd Platoon did. He never cut a mission short because he was tired or didn't feel like fighting. He completed every mission he was given, even the ones that didn't seem fair.
The Lieutenant never accepted defeat. He and his platoon were ambushed dozens of times. Every single time they fought back. A few situations looked grim, such as the ambush where he was injured. His platoon was running out of ammo and people were getting injured. But that didn't faze them at all. They knew the consequences of losing and there was no way in hell they were going to just lay down and take it. This quality goes hand-in-hand with never quitting. Quitting in combat equals defeat.
One of the unique things about the US Army is that they never leave their dead behind. When in firefights, if someone got hit, Parnell would immediately make sure someone pulled him off the line and got the injured to cover. Getting them to safety immediately makes it harder to leave someone behind. After a few fights, Parnell noticed that the enemy was doing the same thing. After a specific fight they actually had enemy dead left on site and decided to use them as bait since the enemy didn't like leaving their dead behind either. While that may not be the most honorable thing, it was a great example of the LT taking advantage of a unique situation.
The next line of the Soldier's Creed reads, "I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills."" LT Parnell shows many times how disciplined he is. Throughout his tour he controlled everything having to do with his platoon. He didn't lose his cool, especially when he found out that Yusef had been telling the enemy where they were going and that he was the one that told them Abdul was leaving.
