Course Syllabus - Systems Analysis and Design (SAD)

 

There will be two (2) major exams, Midterms and Finals, and two (2) long quizzes. NO make-up quiz will be given except for exceptional cases such as disability due to impairment or hospitalization (verified by a medical certificate). On the other hand, make-up long, midterm and final exams may be given to students with reasonable excuse for not taking the exam.
             Grade System.
             Class Standing - 35% Quizzes.
             15% Assignments.
             15% Class Participation/Graded Recitation (and Attendance).
             35% Long Quiz.
             Midterm = 60% Class Standing + 40% Midterm Exam.
             2nd Quarter = 60% Class Standing + 40% Project.
             Final Grade = 1/3 Midterm + 1/3 2nd Quarter and 1/3 Final Exam.
             Course Requirement.
             Successful completion of the course requires student to meet or exceed the course's grade requirement of 75 or otherwise specified by the program.
             Course Conduct.
             Students are required to observe the rules of academic integrity and classroom conduct established by Ateneo de Zamboanga University. CHEATING will NOT be tolerated. Students found cheating will receive a zero score on the quiz or exam and will receive disciplinary action from the Dean of Students Affairs. .

             Week 1-2.
             Context of Systems Analysis and Design Methods.
             The System Players.
             Business Drivers for Today's Information Systems.
             Technology Drivers for Today's Information Systems .
             A Systems Development Process.
             1. To define information systems and know different types of information systems .
             2. To define the role of systems analyst in the development of information systems .
             3. To describe the business and technology drivers that influence development of information systems.
             Week 3.
             Information System Building Blocks.
             The Product "Information Systems".
             A framework for Information Systems Architecture.
             Network Technologies and the IS building blocks.
             1. To differentiate the different types of information systems .
