Given an indicative of the factors mentioned above, the article presupposes it to be fairly candid to predict the military's response during a revolution when the status quo regime faced an opposition. This can be said to be partially correct however various other factors have been unaccounted for to accurately predict the military's response. The essay "Militaries and Revolutions " provides us with the main factors based upon which military of the status quo regime might base their decision to either support the regime or to be with the revolution by overthrowing the regime however while doing so the essay assumes that the main factors that the military might be influenced by are those that are directly related to it abstaining from various other critical factors that might not be directly linked to the military yet play a significant role in the success of the revolution like institutions and the credibility of the threat be it from the revolution or the regime.

The essay by Barany emphasizes on the point that "the military's backing or at least neutrality towards the revolution is a necessary condition for revolutionary success"" (Barany, Armies and Revolutions, 2013) thus analyzing the factors that might determine the stance of the military towards the regime and/or the revolution. Barany opposed to various other authors has taken a unique approach but not laying prominence on one single variable rather all the sources where the army draws its information. The essay particularly depicts its strength in elucidating the internal factors of the military affecting the internal cohesion of the armed forces. The argument given by the essay is internally consistent by being resoundingly complete. The factors influencing the internal cohesion cover all the various aspects possible from ethnic rifts, class issues to branches of the armed forces itself providing the readers with the multitude of factors based upon which the stance of the militia be prejudiced.
