In addition, as Kolk states in "Slow Food - The New Happy Meal," "Food has gotten so broken down. Almost nobody lives on farms anymore. It's gotten out of fashion to grow your own food. Moreover, a product should be clean and should not be unrespectable to the earth. Indeed, related to the Food Empowerment Project organization (FEP) reports, they consider that the air pollution one of the major reasons that cause serious health problems, especially in the farm factory such as respiratory and cardiac disorders. Besides the respiratory problems, air pollution is the main cause of cardiac diseases. For instance, pollution is also believed to have inflammatory effects on the heart to cause chronic cardiovascular disease. Because of this, the movement suppose slow food should not pollute, waste or overuse natural resources during its journey from field to the table.
