Fast Food, Slow Food and the Environment

People in over one hundred countries have become unofficial members of the "slow food" movement. This reenergized interest in eating healthy foods and taking time to enjoy it - while supporting American farmers - is in direct opposition to the fast food and fast life mindset which many US citizens adhere to. The slow food movement attempts to encourage people to think about what they eat, and where the ingredients comes from, even if they buy the products from the grocery store to cook it at home, or where the ingredients comes from when they eat at restaurant. However, the Slow Food movement believes that the impact of the slow food upon people who are following them, it quickly becomes beneficial to the environment, because many issues they can struggle to deal with it such as change in climate temperature, air pollution, and agriculture chemicals. On the other hand, there are many people argue against the slow food movement for some reasons. First, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) report, the changes in climate temperature might be the reason for faster growth of crops. The warmer temperature could reduce harvests, as well as the different kinds of seeds such as grains, usually it takes time to grow and mature, but the faster growth can reduce harvests, which mean the volume of crop produced from a given amount of land (EPA, 2009). However, the Slow Food movement has been struggling to entice people to educate them about these kinds of issues, and how to avoid it, if people follow them and their system. For example, Canadian food organisations, which support the movement round the country, are fighting to attract people by many events and activities such as the Frog Food Festival, which will be at Aug 1st, 2014 in Whitehorse City, and the Fraser Valley Slow Food Cycle Tours event, which will be at Aug 2nd, 2014, in Vancouver City. In fact, during this variety of events, the movement can instruct people to follow the beneficial objectives upon the environment.
