The Importance of Maintaining Privacy

Moreover, in primitive societies, there might be less likely to have a view of privacy but on the other side, in modern societies, there have been more privacy like more modernized society could accept the sexual selection that are censored in the conservative societies. Interestingly, privacy is acknowledged more seriously in the modernized societies especially that are capitalist according to Rand. In this circumstance, from primitive to capitalism, as Rand states () "Capitalism made possible the eradication of slavery, serfdom, and poverty partially because it institutionalized the sphere of the private" (3). Likewise, the level of development around societies can represent the value of privacy in the case of how much privacy those have. In a manner, whether privacy is the need came from inborn or not, modernization can provide it with continuity.
Secondly, the more civilized communities can protect their privacy by getting benefit from the opportunities of civilization. Living in a modern society carries different types of chances compared to primitive societies. Even if this situation seems to be weird to people because those people think that everyone has privacy, actually the more developed societies may include more rights and chances to block invasion of privacy. Rand defends the protection of privacy is required some freedom by presenting an opinion about availability of making a disagreement without enforcement and this requirement can only be attained through the process of civilization as shown in the reason of why American is always one step ahead of others (1). In other words, preservation of privacy might be obtained by the benefits of living in a developed country. In this sense, Phyllis McGinley shows how privacy could develop when civilization increases by claiming insistently "The poor might have to huddle together in cities for need's sake, and the frontiersman cling to his neighbor for the sake of protection.
