The Plantation Industry and the Environment

 

Both groups have operated their business in palm oil plantation industry. The Boards of Directors for these two groups have strongly believed that it is necessary for economically valuable corporations to protect and preserve green environmental as well as restitute to the community. Through the System of Environmental Management, both groups have done many activities in order to advance a green. Through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, TSH Resources BHD and IJM Plantations BHD carry on to take care for the society by giving support in various social contribution include philanthropic, volunteerism, youth sports development, breast cancer health awareness among women, education and scholarships, medical and health outreach programs as well as Agric-talent training. Both groups are also committed to enhance the protection and preservation of environmental in the best management of soil, byproducts or waste, water and air quality in their plantations landscapes. There are various ways that TSH Resources BHD and IJM Plantations BHD use to contribute in the environmental and community since they have earned more profit and received many awards on the best environmental as well as community reporting throughout the years. .

             History of IJM Plantations BHD.
             In order to exploit Desa Talisai, IJM Plantations BHD began in year 1985 with 4,000 hectares industry of Desa Talisai in Sabah, Malaysia. Most of the land-banks are planted in Sandakan and Sabah with the approximate amount of 30,000 hectares. Nowadays, IJM group encompasses and runs 11 industries of palm oil plantation and four palm oil factories which are used in the process of squashing palm kernel from its plantations.
             Achievements of IJM Group.
             In year 2007, IJM Plantations BHD received the 2nd runner up in the Best ACCA Malaysia Environmental Reporting Awards 2006. This group is also rewarded ACCA Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Awards 2010.
