Overview of the Jazz Age

 

No one was invited every one just simply went. The admission was the heart and passion of the music. .
             Fashion during that time was very different from the fashion today. Women hair was cut back in different ways and they wore shawls around their necks. Golden and silver shoes were in style. Many men wore white flannel suits, silver shirts, and golden ties. .
             The young blew away the older generation when the women wore their hair as a short bob. The women wore clothing that exposed their legs and knees, much shorter than usual. The Flappers, were women who wore tight beach wear in public, for those who wore it got arrested for indecent exposure. .
             During the 1920's, Jazz Age was not the only exciting event taking place at the time. Some events that took place were big events. For example, The Phantom of the Opera opened in theaters, Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington made their first recording, and the Great War took place. Also The Wall Street Crash was in 1929. It was the era the Prohibition began. The roaring 20's was the best time for young people. Older people who were born in the 19th century were concerned for the younger generation. They believed that the young ones were loosing faith in God and became wild. .
             Louis Armstrong was a famous trumpet player and singer during the Jazz Age. He was born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Armstrong had a few nicknames people had given him such as "pops ", "satchmo ", and "ambassador satch ". The passion he had for music was so mesmerizing, when he went on stage his presence fascinated not only the Jazz world but also outside music. .
             Not everyone had a chance to get have a childhood and an education. Unfortunately, Armstrong was one this unlucky ones. He was born into a low class that people nicknamed it "The Battlefield. " Shortly after Louis' birth, his father abandoned the family leaving his mother to raise him. In order to raise her son she was promiscuous and left baby Armstrong with his grandmother.
