The Music and Poetry of John Frusciante

Music is a beautiful form of art that I take extremely personally. Listening to music is a way for people to express their emotions and I also find it somewhat beautiful that for the most part everyone has a specific artist or genre that they prefer. As for myself, I listen to every type of music there is and rarely dislike it, for most of my day I am listening to music. It is the main reason I took Intro to Poetry, when scheduling for classes I looked for a musical based class that I could take, but unfortunately they were all filled at the time and I could not get into any of them. As I researched for other classes I stumbled upon Intro to Poetry, to me I find most if not all music to be a form of poetry which is the reason I added the class to my schedule. When thinking about music and poetry and how they could be related I wanted to also add a personal touch to it on artists that I listen to personally whose lyrics remind me of poetry, there were many that came to mind that I really thought would do well on this topic and the one I chose was the guitarist from the band "The Red Hot Chili Peppers" John Frusciante that many might not know, but for Red Hot Chili Pepper fans after he is the reason they were good before he decided to leave the band. .
This paper begins by introducing the argument between whether poetry and music are directly related, I will do this by demonstrating other scholar's thoughts on the matter of music and poetry along with my thoughts. I will follow that with explaining just exactly who John Frusciante is and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Followed by the history of their public and personal lives; Along with why a connection can be made between poetry and these artists also why John Frusciante should be considered a modern day poet and musical pioneer. John actually writes some poetry and I will show examples of that along with examples of the Red Hot Chili Peppers song that was meant to be a poem instead of a song.
