Why A Graduate Degree?

 

            
             It is a fact that some people have to work harder to obtain prosperity and recognition in this world. We all are aware that women had to fight for their rights; and many minorities had to fight for the things they deserved and desired. As time has progressed men and women, of all shapes, sizes and colors, stand on the same battle field and fight some of the very same wars. In my generation, one of our battles is unemployment.
             Expectations.
             We are raised to believe that we must obtain the American dream. We have to go to college, get a great paying job and have a loving family of our own. The truth of the matter is many of us are educated, underpaid and single. Everything is so competitive, including our education, future jobs and mates. All three of these life components depend upon each other; and the degree of success in each, is determined by us. .
             I am a public relations graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. I was fortunate to go through school, work two jobs and balance my extracurricular activities successfully. I graduated with honors on August 2, 2002; it was one of the proudest moments in my life. A college degree is so valuable, but sometimes it isn't enough. Our economy is very tight and the jobs are limited. As of a result everyone is in competition and nothing is guaranteed. .
             I chose to pursue a graduate degree for several reasons. It has always been my desire to obtain an M.B.A. in international business. Our nation is changing rapidly and I want to keep up. As a business woman and entrepreneur, it is important that I learn the appropriate skills necessary to conduct professional affairs globally. .
             A graduate degree will definitely make me a more marketable candidate for future opportunities. Limited jobs make employers extra careful of whom they chose to fill their positions. Companies are in search of experience and often prefer the additional expertise of a master's degree in a related field.
