That is why I will never believe that two people can fall in love when they have only met online or through technology. A person can't get a true reaction of how others feel or get their genuine thoughts, because they have time to think of the appropriate response, or the response they know someone would want to hear. .
Another large issue we face with the advances in technology is cyber-bullying. Teenagers have resorted to online bullying, and we see less harassment in schools. Kids can get online; where they can create fake profiles to remain anonymous and slander anyone they chose. Our generation and those younger avoid confrontation, and aren't faced with it very often, so instead of talking problems face-to-face they are expressing their anger online using social media sites like Facebook and Twitter where other classmates or peers can see it. They can post photos, videos, or embarrassing texts of someone else because with these new technologies there isn't a lot of privacy. Schools now have to enforce rules against cyber-bullying to protect the students, but it is hard because of how easy it is to become anonymous or create a fake profile on the Internet. .
Yes, I do agree that communication has gotten easier, and that is not a bad thing, as long as it isn't abused. I think that blogs and other online forums can allow people to express themselves and their opinions when they otherwise wouldn't. Many people are no longer afraid to post their opinions because they don't have to face the reaction if they don't want to. People feel that they are more protected online and in the comfort of their homes. I also agree that social media and blogs keep people in touch, or help you find people that have the same interests. I love that fact that I can post stuff on Facebook about work, school, or rodeo and my family from Alaska or friends from high school can keep up on what I am doing. I follow plenty of blogs about rodeo athletes and their horses, and I continue to follow them because we have a common interest.
