True Friends- Pop Culture

Must-see-TV on Thursday brings many Americans in front of the television for shows such as Friends, Will and Grace, and ER. The shows are created as a means of entertainment to help us relax and get away from our everyday problems, while watching other people fight their way out of comical situations. Why do we sit in front of the screen hoping to relieve stress from watching others in similar situations? .
Many times, we watch a show such as Friends, and think that none of the situations the characters go through are close to the ones we experience in the real world. I find this statement to be quite false. Each character on the sitcom Friends has their own unique personality that contributes to the issues that arise on the show. Between Monica and Chandler's relationship, Rachel's single-motherhood, and Ross's continuing divorce rate, many people can relate to some aspect of the characters" lives. Although Friends is a television show created for entertainment value, it takes real-life issues and portrays them through the eyes of different characters. .
Each episode of Friends brings about a new issue for one of the characters to overcome. For instance, the new season begins with Rachel on her new journey down motherhood. The countless hours of care, sleepless nights, and endless numbers of diaper changes keep this single mother on her toes. Although she gets help from Ross, the father of her baby, Rachel has found that mothering is no walk in the park. .
Now I know that Rachel is not the only woman in the world going through this kind of a situation. There are many single mothers trying to make it through the hard times. Rachel may have it a little easier than some in the real world, but the concept is still the same. Accidental pregnancy can happen, and Rachel is one of the many that are trying to pull through and prove that single parenting is possible. .
Joey, a striving actor, is trying his best to make it big.
