Film Summary - You Don't Know Jack

Kevorkian also makes us aware that he puts his ethics first, turning those who come to him seeking his help in their desire to die.
The director of the film also uses actual interview videos of Kevorkian's patients telling their stories, inserting Pacino into the scene where the real Kevorkian had been. Thus, we see not just great acting, but genuine feeling as expressed by real people. We see what the jurors saw who acquitted "Doctor Death" on more than one occasion. Dr. Kevorkian is not and will not be the only doctor to push the issue in the ethical debate about euthanasia. But he was the only person that was willing to stand up and fight for what should be a right for all human beings, to have choices at the end of their life. So I wondered, did Dr. Kevorkian ethically serve the best interests of his patients? Ethically and morally yes, he did have the best interests of his patients. On June 4, 2010 in an interview with Larry King on CNN he stated, .
"King: Wasn't it hard, though, even though I know you were taking people out of pain, wasn't it hard for a doctor who takes that oath to administer life to help people die?.
Kevorkian: Well, it's not to help them die. See, everyone's got this backwards. It's to relieve them of their intolerable and unending suffering. The patient's wish - see, that's not my wish. And that's what.Hippocrates says. He says you are the servant of the patient. The servant. But doctors today consider themselves, you know, the overlord of the patient. They've got that twisted backwards. So I've got to do what the patient requires. So I always felt that their wish comes first, no matter what." Kevorkian morally believes assisted suicide is right, at one point in the movie he states that the practice of taking people off life support is brutal and inhumane: "They cut off their feeding and their water. And they let 'em die. And it's all legal. The United States Supreme Court has validated the Nazi method of execution.
