The Dangers of Speeding

This shows that speeding and being distracted go hand I hand and are both very dangerous to do while driving. .
Another reason that speeding is very dangerous is because it increases your stopping speed. When you're stopping speed is increased it takes longer for you to stop. If something were to happen and you needed to suddenly stop it would take longer and you might not be able to stop I time to avoid an accident. "Going 10 mph over the posted speed limit may be a "small" increase in speed but it translates to a 78 percent increase in collision energy – that's nearly double." (Speeding, 2014) This not only shows speeding statistics but it also shows how dangerous speeding really is and how much it affect your stopping time. Having your stopping speed increased is a very dangerous thing and can lead to very bad possibilities.
When you are speeding the likelihood of you getting hurt increases. If you get into a car accident and you are speeding you are more likely to have serious or fatal injuries. Injuries from car accidents are very serious anyways and when you add speeding in the mix it increases the danger and makes the injuries worse most of the time. "The faster you are traveling, the more likely you are to make impact with the dashboard, steering wheel or windshield," (Dangers of Speeding, 2006) which will increase the chance that your injuries will be worse. When you speed it makes the impact of your crash stronger which, in turn, makes the impact of you being jerked around of hurt stronger. This increases your chance of injury in a motor vehicle accident. If you are speeding and get pulled over chances are that you are getting a ticket. When you get a ticket your insurance company sees that and can increase your rate because you are more of a risk for them to insure. Keeping your rate down and not having to pay the insurance company more to stay with them makes your life easier and gives you more money to keep and spend on whatever you would like.
