Terrorism and the Paris Attack of 2015

Shortly after the attacks were accomplished, the Islamic state (IS) group claimed responsibility for the attack in Paris. IS has been a major issue and trend that has been spreading all over the world, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Caliphate is what the Sunni Jihadist group named ISIS call themselves; they believe that they have a religious jurisdiction over Muslims. The Violent belief this group has is influenced by al-Qaida but later removed from it. President Obama wants to use tactics to expel what feeds this terrorist organization. Experts are working hard to evaluate how the group is being financed and managed and also how the media is used to their advantage for recruitment and fundraising. Experts are looking to find what created the group to be a regional dilemma in the middle east (RAND, 2016). The purpose of the attack was determined by two folds': "Partly to strike fear into Westerners, and also partly to reassure its core constituency of supporters - including those in the West - that the group's setbacks are merely a blip" (Roussinos, 2015). There have been multiple attacks that link back to the Islamic state, and since IS and France have been at war with each other for some time, the attack in Paris was revenge for French air strikes on jihadists in Syria and Iraq (Gaudichet & Jackson, 2016). According to Roussinos, "it actually seems easier for IS to carry out a mass terrorist attack in the center of a major Western capital than it is for them to win a military victory on the ground in either Syria or Iraq" (2015). This gives the terrorist group the ability to get back to France for sending their troops down in the first place. As the attack was taking place, over the internet, Islamic supporters were celebrating the attack using hashtags "Parisisburing" (Parfitt, 2015). Over the world, individuals all across have been influenced by the IS ideology, giving them the support and credit they do not deserve.
