We are simply either reaping the benefit of our good karma or paying back our karmic debt of bad karma." To me, this explained the inequality of human and the essence of Karma. The Law of Karma is the causation of our own actions, which is why Karma has been simplified in today's society as "you get what you deserve" or "what comes around, goes around." .
Moreover, Reincarnation is a main part of Karma. While many believe that Reincarnation is just a myth, it explains why people are born with inequality. Dr. Ian Stevenson, former Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and former chair of Psychiatry and Neurology, dedicated the majority of his career studying about reincarnation. He claims that he has found over 3,000 example of reincarnation during his time which he shared with the scientific community. The fact that the myth of Reincarnation is now being studied scientifically, it means that this concept is not just a cliche used in everyday life. While Karma and Reincarnation are followed by many because they are a part of Buddhism, these concepts are beginning to become widely recognized within Western society.
In my Vietnamese culture and the Buddhist religion, we believe in Reincarnation. I believe that I had a previous life, that I have no memories about. What happens in my lifetime is the effect of what I have done in my previous life. I believe that my previous life, I was an average person and that I did not do anything horrible. This would help explain my current life as also average. I do not have a luxury life, but a decent one. I was born without any disabilities or extreme disadvantages, unlike some people that are unfortunately born with disabilities. I am not very smart, maybe in my previous life, I was educated. We have all seen some sort of geniuses before, maybe on TV. Some kids are born with unnatural intelligence.
