Immigration - Boosting the U.S. Economy

After moving to these cities, the population added to the labor force, trying to fill up available jobs. These settlers were typically unskilled, but they were lucky because that was what the employers were looking for, as it would cost them less to pay their wages. In addition, due to the increase in the labor force, the growth of factories and businesses took place in cities. The more factories and businesses that were built, the more jobs got filled. Therefore, more factories and businesses grew, which ultimately expanded the economy of the United States. Also, new technology such as the first telephone and the first car were being discovered in America at this time. Due to the these new enhancements in transportation and communications, shipping and trading started to become common internally and with other countries, which boosted the economy of American greatly. Transportation, predominantly the railroads, allowed people to settle all over the country and it also moved a large amount of immigrants and goods faster around the country. This created more trade for cheaper, so more people had access to buy them. This also eventually helped the economy of the United States. .
As you can see, immigrants were able to benefit the U.S. economy and help the country get to where it is today economically in the late 19th century, so surely immigrants would be able to benefit the U.S. economy in today's world. This is true; immigrants nowadays still help the U.S. economy by expanding the nation's workforce and increasing the nation's economic efficiency (The Fiscal Times). The nation's workforce is expanded due to the influx of immigration and this incites more businesses to be established. These new businesses buy and sell their products to many different customers in many different markets, which keeps the circular flow of income running, which ultimately results in the benefit of the nation's economy.
