The following processes of integration are marked by series of treaties. Each new treaty marked a new level of integration. Within history of European integration therefore can be distinguished following treaties: 1951. - Treaty of Paris, 1957. - Treaty of Rome, 1965. - The Merger Treaty, 1986. - Single European Act, 1992. - Treaty of Mastriht, 1997. - Treaty of Amsterdam, 2000. - Nice Treaty. All these treaties can be seen as mirrors of ongoing European integration. By analysing these treaties it is possible to conclude that European Union is moving towards some kind of a federalization. While there still are many problems for the EU to become a really federalist state it is already possible to see many indications of federalism: united market, set of institutions, which mark this federalist frame. If we notice latest trends - creation of more centralized power and attempts to increase legitimacy for specific institutions, creation of constitution - then it may be concluded that Unions transformation in federalization of European countries is just a question of time.
It could be said that driving force behind European integration was economy. First of all such organisation as European Coal and Steal Organisation (ECSO) was created on the bases of economic needs. Of course whole process of integration should not be seen only in economic spectre. While first of all there were highlighted economic aspects political ones followed straight after. These political aspects we can notice even when ECSO was founded - one of its purposes was to improve relationships between France and Germany. In general it can be said that this process of economic integration had led us towards political integration.
There have been several types of problems, which periodically have disturbed process of integration. First of all we can put down economical crisis. For example such series of crisis showed their affect on integration during 1960ties.
