The simpsons

When posed with the question what was left out of my essay the answer was obvious. I had used no fanatical activity or not touched on nearly all of the advertising areas that the show encompassed. The first article I found was about a plant geneticist that took an idea from the show where homer cross bread plants and turned it into real life. The second article gives news from the agreement with Brunswick Bowling Company. .
"Rob Baur of Lake Oswego, Oregon, dreamed of bringing to life his favorite The Simpsons episode, in which Homer grows 'tomacco', a combination tomato-tobacco plant" (Economic Times). This is just one example of what many fans of the show do, there are many more examples out there. Baur combined the plants by attaching tobacco roots to a tomato plant, giving it properties of both. In many experiments like this both samples die because they are incompatible with each other. "The two plants can successfully become one because they come from the same plant family" (Economic Times). The article goes on to say that just like the show the plant actually became fruit bearing, although Baur predicts that the fruit will be poisonous. Eating the nicotine could be fatal. .
"Homer, Moe, Lenny and Apu may soon be coming to a lane near you. Fox's Licensing and Merchandising unit is teaming with Brunswick this January for a deal that will bring exclusive Simpsons" Bowling Clubs to the brand's 109 U.S. and Canadian centers" (Ebenkamp). The bowling alley which has appeared in so many episodes of the show may be appearing at locations all over the U.S. The characters are appearing on the merchandise and the look of the bowling alley will be appearing on the walls and the employees. "Team members and employees will wear Simpsons' apparel, such as bowling shirts" (Ebenkamp). This is just the start though Ebenkamp also describes promotions for bowling leagues at the new bowling centers with those competing in the 4 month league receiving a Simpsons' character bowling ball at the completion of the season.
