Beat by the mind

I believe that being persuasive is a very interesting aspect of people. Your either naturally persuasive, or you have to carefully plan out your thoughts on what you are going to say in order to get the results that you want.
You can also use persuasion on yourself. Like in the game of 9 ball. This pool game is highly psychological. And the fact that you can easily lose to anyone makes it an outstandingly strategical game. That's why I have great respect for the game. I notice that when I played a couple of nights ago in Emerald Q, that I was losing to a couple of people that I am extremely better than. Once I lost a few games, the pool game was then between my opponent, myself, and my mind. As I continued to play I became aware of my frustrations and decided I was having "a bad pool day." The women I was playing was a middle aged red head who clearly signified she was a beginner by asking and reassuring me about the rules, not to mention that she had a shot that needed work badly.
As the game went on I was in a slump. I could not make a shot, I had horrible leaves and she had won most of her games by hitting a ball really hard causing it to wildly bounce off several rails and miraculously dropping the 9 ball. At this point I was mad. So what I did was take in consideration that pool is 90% mental and 10% physical. So I had a persuasive war inside my head. I was trying to convince myself that I was not having bad luck and that the key to success is not letting outside distractions and/or influences affect my game. I tell you that this is easier said than done.
I am reading a book on how the mind works and I have found that many people have a hard time redirecting their thought process. It takes much practice and a lot of peace of mind. See, the whole object is letting go of all the stress of life and allowing your brain to grasp only what you are trying to be fixated on. Psychologically talking your self down step by step is not easily achieved.
