What will happen with the students and teachers? Barriers for success will affect the whole community.
             Teachers are losing their jobs, until the financial crisis makes a notable decrease. These are the consequences of the budget cuts, classes" cuts, and governor Gray Davis" proposal. In order for the college to remain right side up until the next fiscal year starting July first of two thousand three teachers lose and more teachers will continue losing their jobs. Also the library probably will be closed during summer school because of the few classes that will be offer. The dining hall also will be closed soon but just for repairing because is more than thirty years old and some changes must be done. After the repairing a change in the dining hall hours will be make. Sheehan adds, "this had happened in the past but never have they done what they are doing now and we have only a couple of months to make at all happen.".
             Programs are also affected for the proposal of the governor Gray Davis. A petition for the governor to reconsider his proposal has gathered about one thousand signatures in about two weeks. Some of the best programs have being seriously affected. These programs are (DSPS) Disable Students Programs and Services and (EOPS) Extended Opportunity Programs and Services. There are about six hundred students in both programs according the college newspaper "The Chaparral".
             Students will be limited to their availability. They will be restricted to many of the activities they were involved. Paul Crow a student in the 1980's of College of the Desert fought for disabled laws and expressed his feelings towards having a college education, and says, "I know what a gift it is to have a community college education because without it I would have no chance to go to college.".
             The most important thing right now is to determine where we need to be in order to get the word out regarding our funding crisis.
