In this book there are seven main charachters: George, Lennie, Slim, Candy, Crooks, Curley and Curley's wife. the minor charachters are: Boss, Whit and Carlson. It is very obvious that all of these people have dreams. These dreams are shown in this novella as incompleted for everyone.
George and Lennie's dream is to have a small ranch of their own and have small animals. Candy joins in this dream. All thee of these people thought for a while that their dream was gonna come true but a shadow had cast over it. Temporarily Crooks was also interested in this dream.
Curley's wife had a dream of becoming a movie star but she was unsuccessful. She thought her mother had stolen all of her letters which invited her to hollywood. To the end she ran away from home and married Curley. She ended up with a miserable ending.
All the ranchmen dream of becoming cowboy heros as they read about in the pulp magazines.
As you see most charachters have a dream of their own and seem to be unsuccessful most of the time.
