1984 vs our world today

Due to the V-chip being installed in almost everything from common household devices such as televisions to our personal home computers to monitor our everyday lives, just shows how we are one step closer to a world similar to 1984.
1984 was swarming with Thought Police, which are like police Officers who control ones thoughts. One could be saying something privately to one's mother, who could end up being a part of the Thought Police, and you would have never known. How do the Thought Police compare to undercover cops and secret agents? Don't they do the same thing? The government could suspect a person of unlawful sexual dealings and they would send dispatch an undercover cop pretending to be "just one of the customers". Right when they"re making the final deal, the teams of police swarm in, arresting the Jon and all of his accomplices. The Thought Police, like Mr. Charrington, could be thought of as just a poor old man with just enough money to open a shop filled with the things he loves. Right when he catches Winston and Julia committing a crime against Big Brother, a stampede of people bombard into the room to take them to the Ministry of Love. Nobody ever knew who the Thought Police were until it was too late. When Mr. Charrington walked into the room soon after Winston had been caught, "It occurred to Winston that for the first time in his life he was looking, with knowledge, at a member of the Thought Police.".
Gossip was also a big trouble in 1984 and has been in times of our world also. In the fifties, the fear of Communism was great in our country. Just being accused of a Communist was enough to send a person's life into shambles. In Hollywood at this time, for example, many actors for their benefit alone, would accuse others in the industry of being a Communist, The result was that that person was blacklisted from all major studios and could consequently be contract-less.
