Personal Narrative

A girl's way of viewing the world can be very skeptical at the age of seven. Looking at Katie Bayne, this is no exception starting at a new school in the middle of the 3rd grade. At the time, although she will not admit it now, she was just a shy little girl that wanted nothing more than to fit in. However, taking a new step with confidence is never exactly the easiest thing to do.
It was a Sunday evening at Katie's house. The next day was the first day of school for her and what else can she feel but anxious! She dashed through her house over and over again making sure everything was ready for the next day. She got her clothes set out, lunch packed, and backpack already zipped up. Getting into bed, Katie felt her doubts creep up inside of her. "What if nobody likes me?" She cried disdainfully to herself. She lied awake all night in her anxiety.
The next morning came whether Katie was ready or not. She slipped into her clothes, picked up her effects, and was ready to head out early. As she walked in the gates to the school, she could not help but question what this day would bring. Entering the principal's office Katie signed in, and the principal herself escorted Katie to her class. Walking down what seemed never-ending halls Katie contemplated to herself, "I could get lost in here!".
When she finally reached Ms. Olsen's 3rd grade classroom, the principal made the formalities. The whole class stared lazily as she said, "Class, this is the new student, Katie Bayne- She said more but Katie was not listening at all as she took in the view of 25 kids staring right back at her. When the principal was done speaking and had left, Ms. Olsen motioned for Katie to sit in the front row in the second to last desk closest to the window. Surrounded on all sides, Katie, the prisoner, felt alone. The bright yellow nametags glared at her as she sat. Behind Katie sat Tracy Avril, who was kind enough to volunteer to show Katie around the school.
