A part of me

 

            
             Specific purpose: To inform my audience on a few aspects of my life.
             Thesis: Going to college right after high school just wasn't for me. I decided instead to get married, have children, overcome tragedy and then return to college.
             Preview: My story begins at college and at this point in my life; I have made a full circle. .
             Introduction: Today I would like to tell you a little about my life, who I am and some of my life experiences that have made me who I am.
             Impact: How would you cope with experiencing life and death within a few short years? Would it change your outlook on life?.
             Establish Credibility: Having had four children ranging in ages from 8 years old to 2 months, while trying to accomplish my own goals has been difficult yet rewarding.
             I. Two months ago I gave birth to my fourth child.
             A. During those 2 months I realized that I have a very routine daily life.
             B. When I graduated high school, I decided to go to college, but because my parents were paying for my school I did not take it serious.
             1. I felt (at the time) that having fun was more exciting than books.
             2. After two semesters, I decided to venture elsewhere. .
             (transition) I changed avenues and was married a short time later.
             II. Excited, we decided to begin a family.
             A. After having my daughter, we were excited to be awaiting the birth of our first son.
             1. Things looked promising until the third trimester. My blood pressure was extremely high; I was having horrible headaches, and gaining an excessive amount of weight in a short period of time.
             2. After being admitted into the hospital, I was informed of the complications arising.
             a) I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia. According to What to Expect When Your Expecting, "Pre-eclampsia is also called toxemia, it is a pregnancy related form of high blood pressure. No one knows what causes PIH." (Eisenberg, Murkoff, Hathaway 351).
             b) The baby was then diagnosed with Hydrops, which is having fluid in their organs.
