To some people watching baseball is like watching paint dry on a wall, they just cannot get into it but to me it is not like that. I have been a fan of baseball and the New York Yankees since I was a young kid. Although, most of my years being a Yankees fan they were only an average team, they had not been in the World Series since 1981. I wanted more than anything to be able to see my team in the championship game. Well it finally happened in 1996, the Yankees had one of there best seasons.
In 1996 I was 13 years old. This is the first time in 15 years the Yankees made it to the World Series. There wasn't a time in my life where I was more excited. Finally the series started. The Atlanta braves defeated the Yankees the first 2 games of a 7 game series, I have a very poor attitude, so by this time I figured it was over, no team had ever come back being down 2 games to none. Well the Yankees did it, winning the next 3 games. They need one more win and they become World Series Champions. On Oct. 26, 1996 I woke up with my heart pounding, and more anxious than ever, I could barely wait for the start of the game. Than there was a knock on my door, it was my cousin, he asked me where I was watching the game that night, and I replied, "right here" why? With a huge smile on his face he flashed 2 Yankee tickets in front of my face. At first I thought this was a big joke, when I finally realized he was serious I almost passed out. Never did I think I was going to see a World Series game, especially the one that could be the deciding game.
Once we got there I couldn't believe my eyes, it was the most amazing sight I have ever seen. I have never been to Yankee stadium so I did not know what to expect. Everyone was extremely rowdy and couldn't wait for game time. Once the Yankees took the field everyone went crazy. I got goose bumps all over my body. I was in complete shock. I was finally here, some people do not get to attend a real major league game in there entire life, and here I am a 13 year old kid at game 6 of the World Series, I thought, how lucky am I? .
