This will allow the Company to plan ahead and the problems will be addressed quickly and efficiently in a timely way with adequate resources. .
Incidents Requiring Action.
This disaster recovery plan will invoked in the following circumstances .
• An event which has disabled partially or completely, the central computing facilities for a period of 24 hours .
• An event which was based by a problems with network and computers managed by the American Carpet Company .
• An event which has impaired the used of computers and networks managed by the American Carpet Company technology areas due to the handing out of day to day operations .
Contingencies.
An occurrence that can devastate a computer or telephone services will usually happen under the major categories: .
• Weather and Natural Phenomenon .
• Human and Non Human Threats.
• Power/Air Conditioning Interruption .
• Sabotage and Interdiction .
• Fire .
• Water .
There are different levels of severity and different types of recovery levels, this plan covers strategies for: .
• Partial recovery - working at varied site on campus and/or other client areas on campus.
• Full recovery - working at the existing central site and client areas, possibly with a degraded stage of service for a period of time. .
Initiation of the Institute's Business Continuity Plan.
The commencement of this plan is in the hands of the Business Continuity Management Team Coordinator or any member of the team or the Administrative Computing Steering Committee.
Activation of a Designated Hot Site .
The Vice President for information system is responsible for activating any of the designated hot sites or back up resources. If the Vice President is absent the responsibility is then handed down to director of information systems operation & Systems or the Coordinator of the Q&S functional area management team.
