Gender Construction

When looking out into a suburban street or city you might see different types of behaviour in males and females. These types of different gender behaviour are called gender construction or how you are brought up as a child according to your gender. if you like blue for boys or pink for girls. These characteristics are portrayed in the novel the day my bum went psycho. This book has a main character that shows a number of those characteristics. .
It shouldn't matter what other people think, it's how you feel that should count, but in this modern world people judge the society on the "typical" stereotype of male/female. And the fact is that people are bringing up kids how society has labelled them eg. Boys should play with cars and girls should play with dolls. People should be able to do what you want without people criticising you. If a boy wanted to play with dolls this would be seen as not normal behaviour, even though the boy might see nothing wrong with it. He should be allowed to play with dolls if he sees fit, and girls should be able to play with cars or play war games and still be accepted as "normal". .
The main character in the novel "The day my bum went psycho is Zack a 13 year old boy who like any other boy is into crazes like trading cards which is very stereotypical for a male. Also in the beginning of the book he meets new characters and when this happens he is very unsure of himself which usually a lot of males have to deal with especially around females, although females are usually more casual around the opposite sex. Because of this in this book that the main character is always trying to impress her. .
