According to the article "Pokemania vs. dreaded global trade" (Arizona republic Nov, 28, 1999) It is believed Mcdonaldization "leads inexorably to the triumph of American culture" The French feel so strongly about resisting "Mcdonaldazation" that they have "repeatedly threatened to scuttle trade talks unless cultural goods are exempted". .
Globalization from an ecological perspective deals with the effects of non-indigenous plants, animals and insects being introduced to foreign lands due to trade. A problem of ecological Globalization is, foreign species find there way into an ecosystems where they didn't evolve and may " suppress some native species by consuming resources they would have used instead" according to Christopher bright (invasion species: pathogens of globalization). Christopher Bright states the situation in South America is a good example of the dangers of ecological globalization. "The growth of specialty export crops [in south America] has spurred the spread of whiteflies, which are capable of transmitting at least 60 plant viruses.". Alone this isolated incident is responsible for the abandonment of 1 million hectares of farmland. .

It encompasses the issue of state vs. corporation, dealing with the perceived change of existing governmental structure due to corporate economic expansion. .

Due to the vast nature of globalization I would like to focus my discussion and critique specifically on economic globalization. Over the years there have been various debates over the effects of globalization. From an economic perspective I believe globalization as a whole is positive.
