            Its 9 o"clock in the morning, you wake up for school, your coughing your lungs out, and your throat feels like its on fire, and yet u still crave a cigarette. For a lot of people, that is the way they wake up. Yet, they still continue to smoke. A study in Mens Health showed that 26% of men, and 23% of women over the age of 18 smoke. People all over the world smoke, and dont realize or dont care that smoking is one of the most leading causes of death in the US and the world. But, with proper help and information, people can quit smoking. My goal today is to not only inform you of the risks of smoking, but to persuade you to quit or to never try smoking. .
             Everyday, u will probably see some kind of cigarette advertisement, whether its in a liquor store, a billboard, in a commercial or in a magazine ad. Smoking seems to be everywhere, and the percentage of people that smoke is shocking. Like I said before, 26% of men, and 21% of women over 18 smoke regularly Also, 34% of people who smoke are highschool dropouts. But its not just dropouts that are smoking, 10.9% of people with 16yrs or more of education are smoking. Also, did u realize that 33-50% of people who have experimented with smoking become regular users. Yet, smoking is not only common with adults, it is also starting to grow with younger children. Www.nicotinevictims.com says that Everyday 3,000 kids become regular smokers, and a third of them will die from related causes. These kids will die from smoking because smoking is very unhealthy and each cigarette takes 7 minutes off your life. .
             Smoking is one of the most leading causes of death. Each and everyday, 1,000 people will die as a result of nicotine addiction, and half of all regular smokers will die from their habit. 30% of cancer deaths, including 80% of lung cancer and 17% heart disease are all results of smoking. Many of these deaths and illnesses are caused because cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including tar, which is very unhealthy to the body.
