Freedom In America

Have you ever thought about not having the freedoms that you have today? What would it be like if no one fought for our rights or freedoms? Freedom is knowing who you really are. Freedom means so much to me, and I don't know what I"d do without it. We, the people of the United States, have many different freedoms, which most people take for granted. Therefore, I will always think about my freedoms, and I won't ever take them for granted again. Although there are several important freedoms that I have, I have selected the freedoms of speech and religion as my focus because they are the most significant to me.
Even though many people do not notice that we have the freedom of speech, it is a very important freedom for numerous reasons. To start, our freedom of speech allows each United States citizen to speak his or her mind freely. When I tell people I like school, it is an opinion that I give. Also, it creates many eclectic individuals. If we couldn't speak our mind, nobody would be able to voice his or her own opinion. It allows one to stand up for his or her rights. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot during one of his speeches, because some insane person did not agree with what he said. Although Martin Luther King, Jr. knew that his words were controversial and that there were threats against him, he still spoke them loud and clear. Lastly, people can express their opinions in distinct ways. I think soccer is the best sport in the world and that is just my opinion. Many people feel differently about it. All in all, freedom of speech is very important to the citizens of the United States and me.
Equally important is the freedom of religion, which allows you to pick whatever religion you want to be. First of all, belief plays a very important role in our lives. It allows us to choose what religion to be, whether it is Catholic, Christian, Jewish, etc. Still, many countries do not have that freedom.
